Seldom seen in the same places as its close relative the cowslip, primroses prefer moist woodlands, under hedge-rows and shady grasslands. In a garden this would be an ideal plant in a shady border, but it is more suited to wilder planting under a shady tree or hedge.
Situation partial shade/shade.
Soil type neutral/acid: normal/moist.
Height 15-20cm.
Flowering season + colour
March-May, yellow.
